Nope. But I've been an assistant to both a local casting director and a LA manager for a while and was asked by one of the top agencies in SF to be an agent. I know my way around this business and am happy to share what I know with my students.
I have made recommendations in the past and have walked several people through the steps of securing an agent successfully. There are a couple ways to get an agent. The most common being: showcases and mail submissions. I can help make you stand out for the thousands of packages that agents get and help you train as an actor to do your best when you are ready to showcase. I don't automatically set my students up with agents or films that I help cast though... I wouldn't want anyone taking my classes just for the "connections." That makes me feel all weird inside. Take the class if you want to be a better actor and are committed to learning more about yourself, the entertainment industry, and humanity.
If they fit the part, I'll make the recommendation.
I think that actors need to be pro-active and create the kinds of roles and stories that they themselves would want to see. Too often, we keep waiting for "someone else" to make it happen for us. Technology has advanced to the point that we can do this on the fly, if we have educated ourselves to do so... plus, it's just REALLY, REALLY fun to create art with people that you enjoy spending time with. :-) It's all about empowerment!
Still have questions? Please contact me anytime! I look forward to hearing from you.
